Amy Antin’s Room for Peace

"Amy Antin’s Room" is a unique and fantastic place.  It's an imaginary room where you don't have to grapple with obligations or socio-cultural tendencies, both performers and audience will feel at ease in this relaxed and unique atmosphere. The singers and songwriters will be performing for free, all the evenings proceeds go to “medica mondiale, e.V.” a project raising funds for Rwanda.  The performers on the 4th of March will be Amy Antin with Bernd Keul(bass) and Philipp Imdahl (drums), guest Klaus Strenge (guitar) and Hendrik Soll (piano), Markus Apitius, Ariane Baumgartner, Martell Beigang, Onita Boone, Richard Dooley, Valentina Franco, Verena Guido, Anne Hartkamp, Bernd Klanke, Oliver Lawrence, Zé Mari, Marc Schönberger, Bernd “Marty” Wolf and many others. The nights' very special guest will be actress Mariele Millowitsch, who will sing a duet (or two!?) with Amy Antin and her trio. During the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, an estimated 250,000 women and children were raped, mutilated and killed.  Many of the rape victims brought children to the world; today, they are still grappling with the consequences of violence, war and destruction, as well as with their feelings of guilt and the rejection of their unwanted children. The Cologne-based organisation, “medica mondiale, e.V.” supports forums in the Rwandan capital, Kigali, where rape victims from various regions can receive counselling and psychotherapy, or simply come together to talk about their experiences and give each other support.  “medica mondiale“ provides transportation and room and board for these women. American singer/songwriter Amy Antin, has invited her friends and colleagues to perform in “Room for Peace” to raise money for this worthy cause, and she hopes to create “…a celebration of song and enforce the importance of true communication in providing the consciousness for peace". “Room for Peace” is happy to announce the kind support of the AIWCC (American International Women’s Club of Cologne) whose goals include German-American cultural exchange and the support of local and world-wide initiatives which help women and children – the AIWCC fits the priorities and concerns of “Room for Peace”, hand in glove.
