Back in business in Volksgarten

It's a little earlier than last year, but yes - the beer garden in Volksgarten is open for business and it's only April!  Last year we had to wait till May, this year the folks at Hellers have answered the locals' prayers and opened up early.  The beer garden in Volksgarten is an oasis of calm in the Sudstadt, there aren't many other beer gardens in the city where you're far enough away from a road not to hear the traffic.  In Volksgarten all you can hear is the soft splashing of the paddle boats and the distant shouts of happy kids in the nearby playground, the Weiss beer is delicious and the food good value.  *If* you go to the beer garden and it's closed (and I'm sorry but this does tend to happen in Volksgarten - a spot of rain and it closes up shop), you can go up the road to the subtly named "Climax" and take shelter under their umbrellas.  Climax, on the corner of the leafy EifelPlatz, is a great place to sit and watch the world go by. It's quite lively at night and apparently serves a good cocktail, but during the day its outside tables and chairs are full of sun worshippers soaking up the rays.
