Body Worlds by Gunther von Hagens

Body Worlds by Gunther von Hagens

If you're a little bit squeemish, this show is probably not for you. If however, you're interested in the workings of the human body, you might want to take a look. The controversial show "Körperwelten" (Body Worlds) by Gunther von Hagens, rolls into Cologne from September 19th until January 31st. It's fascinating, it's repellent and it's a journey into "plastination" that you'll find either eye-opening or stomach churning. I saw the "show" a few years ago in Munich when there was a big furore over where Mr von Hagens obtains his destined-for-plastination bodies. I assume it's all above board as he's been touring the world ever since. This year's shows are bound to feature ever more bizarre tableau’s, like the table of gamblers, bodies in motion and mother and child. If you look at it purely from an educational point of view it’s very interesting, but as you walk around you can’t help feeling slightly voyeuristic, or at very least a little uncomfortable with the whole “show” atmosphere. Whatever you do, if you do go, go after lunch, a while after lunch… http://www.koerperwelten.de/koeln/willkommen.html
