Comedy in Bonn “the magnificent seven”

Comedy in Bonn just took on a completely new look last week, as Steve Calcott’s (James Coburn) comedy club “funnybone club im kellar” (f c I k) blasted back on to the stage with a roar of approval from the audience and a thumbs up from all involved.
Felix Ruetz, (Yul Brynner) freshly returned from the enormousness of Canada to the tininess of Bonn, opened the show with an excellent set which had the audience in complete sympathy with his relationship problems. Laughing at his tough upbringing and the “Duck you” song is just getting more and more fans all the time. The host included.
A complete newcomer to stand up, Charlene Scott Gibson,(Robert Vaughan) Professor by day Poker by night, all the way from Texas via Geilenkirchen, was happy to relate her flying experiences on the way to her sister’s wedding. However, the wedding planner, had some Maid of Honour stuff still to do. A debut to be proud of and there is more to come from this lady.
A legend in local and German comedy, the father of English comedy in Germany and a mentor and friend to many – Johnny Hollywood, (Charles Bronson) had more material to draw from than is legally allowed – but his new set, his incredible enthusiasm and a little bit of self love were infectious. Drawing from years of experience and a willing member from the crowd, Dorothee Straeter, Johnny explained how much fun he was having in the dating game again and the 10 big No No’s if you want to get the gal or the guy. A wonderful and funny set.
Maxi Gstettenbauer returned to the Bonn stage almost directly from Frankfurt Airport. After a gruelling but enjoyable tour in San Francisco, where he appeared at the famed “San Francisco Comedy Day”, was happy, if not a bit tired, to give us some thoughts on his Transatlantic trip and rocked the house as he delivered his hot sharp and hilarious material. His continued growth in the comedy arena is a joy to all of those who know and support him. Go Max.
Finally the return of the “Horny Nerd” – Rocket Scientist Brain Surgeon Guy – Casey James ( Steve McQueen or any Queen he wants to be) just finished off a fantastic evening with new material and as always his Dad’s influence and support. If somewhat warped his father obviously had the boy’s future at heart from the earliest age. Pre – natal apparently.
The best night of comedy at The Fiddler’s Irish Party Pub to date for f c I k and a night to remember “the magnificent seven” was an outstanding success and everyone enjoyed themselves – audience, performers and host Steve Calcott all walked away smiling.
The next f c I k comedy show in Bonn will be on the 19th October at 8 pm ish or for Germans 20 uhr ish. On facebook we are funnybone club im Kellar.
On to the Köln Comedy Festival, where Johnny Hollywood will have two very special nights of English Comedy at Hollywood’s Comedy nights Flannagan’s Irish Pub Köln on the 6th and 13th October.
