Matts Leiderstam at the Kunsthalle

Swedish installation artist Matts Leiderstam presents some of his older works (1997 to 2008) at the Kunsthalle in Düsseldorf. Inspired by the portrait and landscape painting of the 18th and 19th centuries, Leiderstam takes paintings and graphic art out of their original collection and presentation contexts, and positions them anew within institutional exhibitions.

Each show is a synthesis of circus styles from around the world, with its own central theme and storyline. Coffee to go in Bonn

Bonn locals know that Frau Holle serves the best coffee in town. But what local students know is that the mobile coffee stand on the square in front of the the Kreuzkirche, serves the same coffee but for half the price.  The "Cafe-Roller" is always heaving during the week - you'll stand in a queue any time of day - but at the weekend - it's nowhere to be seen: no students, no rolling coffee van.  Three "Barista's" Johannes Romig, Leyla Telli and Matthias Lynders fulfilled a dream with the Cafe-Roller.

Made to last in Cologne

Do you remember the phrase "it will last you forever" - when was the last time you bought something that could live up to that expectation?  In these days of throwaway fashion, even the latest "it" bag costing thousands of euros will be thrown on the fashion scrap heap when the next season's "must have" hit's the pages of Vogue.  That's not the case in Manufactum - here you can buy stuff - that lasts.  With the slogan "The good things in life still exist" Manufactum sells everything from pure vegetable soaps and original Belgium chocola

Brunch in the sun

The Spoerl Fabrik restaurant is situated in an old factory building near Derendorf.  Outside there's lots of brick and steal but on the inside it's all lovely old wood furnishings, etched glass and warm friendly smiles.  It's just undergone a change of management and has seen improvements in both deco and service: the bread is now delivered by Düsseldorf cult baker Hinkel, and the jam is home made, making a brunch or breakfast at Spoerl Fabrik a must.
