Cool Cologne

Sushien
Maybachstr. 24, 50670 Cologne. T: 0221-13 93 403
The craze for conveyor belt sushi is obviously still alive and well. I actually prefer to sit in a restaurant at my own table and slowly enjoy my meal, but when you’re popping out for a snack or grabbing a quick bite before a film or show, it’s the perfect choice. Across the road from the Cinedom in Media Park is Sushien – a nice little fast food Japanese with great food and really friendly staff. If you’ve been to one of these places before then you’ll know what to expect – high bar seats arranged around a conveyor belt laden with different coloured plates of sushi/maki/sashimi/teriyaki etc. The different colours indicate the price and you can also order hot dishes separately. Each place setting is equipped with chop-sticks, soy sauce, wasabi and pickled ginger, so all you need to do is pick up a plate and get stuck in. At the end of your meal the waitress tallies up your plates and of course you’ve spent much more than you intended! A great place for dinner before the movies, fast, healthy and delicious.

2con Lounge
Am Duffesbach 4. Cologne. T: 0177-8700863
This retro looking bar/restaurant in the Südstadt serves up some great EurAsian food and fantastic cocktails accompanied by cool 'toons’ supplied by a live DJ. The interior has a very cool and laid-back vibe and the service is friendly and not in your face. Just over from the Eifelstr. tram stop check it out soon as the location doesn’t bode well for a long term residence!
