Planet Germany
Entertaining and well written, Cathy Dobson takes the reader on a journey through life in a small village outside of Düsseldorf. We start with New Year celebrations and the typical German “firework display” and move through the year with Cathy and her entertaining family, neighbours and friends. The lives of these somewhat eccentric Brits is never dull, from the Jamaican neighbour and his killer sound system, to the many cats and their house habits, to the German friends, colleagues and acquaintances, who are always quick to point out why the British are generally dysfunctional, eat appalling food and are on the whole inferior to Germans The book takes a humorous look at some of the frustrations of German life, as well as the many things an Expat will never truly understand about the Germans – such as “Dinner for One”. A book you won’t be able to put down, it will make you laugh out loud and nod your head in agreement over the many shared experiences. More please Cathy! (www.amazon.com)
