Out of this world comedy

It's our favourite time of year again - it's time for the Cologne Comedy Festival! Of course we'll be sitting in the front row at Hollywood's Comedy Night because last year we all laughed so hard our faces hurt for a week. This year's line up is guaranteed to have you falling off your chairs - sometimes literally. Maxi Gstettenbauer is a German with a sense of humour - no that's not an oxymoron - this guy is funny - and even though he's fresh on the comedy circuit he's already been on tour... around the Ruhr... and San Fransisco! You can catch Maxi and many other great comics (Dave Thompson, Steve Dix and the fabulous Tamika Campbell to name just a few) on the 6th October - but book soon or you'll be relegated to the paper stools... The second Hollywood's Comedy Night - on the 13th October - could be even hotter than the first (and that's saying something). Casey James will disarm you with his rocket surgeon brain scientist looks and then blast you away with his hilarious humour and dry as a bone delivery. James Allan doesn't even need to try, his effortless humour, laid back style and cheeky Brit delivery make him the James Bond meets Lenny Henry of the stand up scene. Sanjay Shihora's high energy routine never fails to surprise, the jokes come hard and fast and by the end of his show you'll be rolling in the aisles. Andy Valvur will change the pace and give your face muscles a brief reprieve - but don't be fooled by his cool calm exterior - he throws in some killer one liners and his slow build up routines lead to a crescendo of rolling laughter. David Cassell (pictured) is in another league althogether - we're not really sure if he's from this planet - this guy is crazy, crazy eyes, crazy clothes and the craziest and zaniest sense of humour you'll ever see, if he's the last guy on the stage, we're all in trouble - there's a distinct possibilty that the audience will self combust. Be there - both nights - we'll be looking out for you!
