Surf's up at Cinenova Cologne

Whether you are a floater, a goofy foot, a grommet or a shubbee, if you pay a visit to Cinenova on Monday you'll feel like you're right in the middle of some gnarly surf action. The Blue Surf Film Night is hosted by Blue Surf Magazine which arranges surf movie nights regularly all around Germany. From 60's classics to art movies, underground cult films to block-busters, the magazine's aim is to get big waves on the big screen. On Monday 25th February you can catch the German premiere of U.S. movies 'Here and Now' and 'Groundswell'. 'Here and Now' by directors Taylor Steele and Nathan Myers follows 25 famous names from the surfing world: Kelly Slater in Fiji, Alex Knost, and Rob Machado in California, Junior Faria in Brazil and Ozzy Wright on a crazy camping holiday. They were each equipped with a camera for 24 hours. The result is great entertainment and a great portrait of the global surf scene. 'Groundswell' is a little film about making a big stand. Director Chris Malloy sails with a group of environmental activists and surfers along the coast of British Columbia, Canada. An oil pipeline is planned in the middle of this unspoiled eco-paradise which also offers up some fantastic waves. The film portrays the beauty of the area and the struggle of the Indians living there against the exploitation of their home. For sun, sea, surf and eco-warriors, ride a wave - or maybe a tram - to Cinenova on Monday. You can win a couple of tickets today with the Kölnerstadtanzeiger.
